After tuning my second guitar down half a step, i decided it would be the perfect time to try out some Slash licks. Sweet Child O Mine just had to be done. Am Pentatonic Licks

When you’re just starting out you need all the help you can get.

While this video is a little old, Peter Vogle does a good job of showing you how to play the A minor pentatonic scale around the 5th fret.

Sure this won’t get you soloing right away but it is important, especially when you consider that these are exactly the same notes as found in the C major scale.

You’ll need to know this if you want to enter the improv world with some Bluesy licks.

Flake – Jack Johnson, Guitar Lesson

This is one of my favourite songs and so was eager to learn it, especially on an electric as I’m pretty sure that’s what it’s recorded on anyway.

I searched Youtube and found this guy with a pretty easy to follow tutorial. He puts up some great animations and images to ensure you get the chords right and he’s from Bristol, just down the road from me, so it’s as good a reason as any to promote him.

Kyryptonite – 3 Doors Down, Guitar Lesson

OK so it’s not exactly a lesson or a tutorial but this video is clear enoguh to allow you to get to grips with this fairly simple to play 3 Doors Down track, Kryptonite.

It only reached number 3 here in the UK charts and wasn’t really followed with much European success but Kryponite launched 3 Doors down in the states to go on to create many fantastic albums.
